Activision, Inc. and Agora Games, Inc. partnered with Starlight to host a Guitar Hero® III: Legends of Rock Charity Challenge benefiting seriously ill children and their families. Fans competed to get the highest score possible while playing Monster’s “Matchbook Romance.”
For each participant who registered to play in the event, Activision and Agora Games made a $1 donation to Starlight. Nearly 2,000 people played in the tournament — double the size of Guitar Hero’s typical contest! Additionally, for every 1,000 points scored by the challenge’s highest individual scorer — nicknamed THABEAST721 — the company donated $100 to Starlight. In total, the Guitar Hero community rallied to raise nearly $50,000 to benefit Starlight programs!
During the same time period, Activision and Agora Games also sponsored a second, private Guitar Hero III challenge, specifically for the seriously ill teenagers and their teen siblings that are a part of Starlight’s Starbright World online community. Starbright World member SilentSuperior won that contest.
As the winners, THABEAST721 and SilentSuperior both won all-expenses-paid trips to Southern California and tours of Neversoft Studios.
