Thunderbirds Charities donated $50,000 to Starlight Arizona to begin renovating hospital treatment room at the AZ Burn Center at Maricopa Medical Center. Many seriously ill children undergo procedures in hospital treatment rooms. It is in these rooms where some of the child’s most difficult and painful experiences occur. Medical staff, parents and the children themselves asked Starlight to improve these environments to help calm worries, reduce fears, and provide a distraction from pain. Thanks to the generous support from Thunderbirds Charities, Starlight will transform the room to be more comforting to help make the child’s experience less frightening and at the same time increase his or her cooperation during the treatment process.
Phoenix Suns Charities
This year, the Phoenix Suns Charities celebrated its 3rd year of partnering with Starlight Children’s Foundation to help improve the lives of young patients and their families. During the partnership, Phoenix Suns Charities has donated more than $20,000 which includes three Starlight Fun Centers™ and support to the Starlight Great Escapes program.

Starlight Arizona is pleased to recognize Jim Piccolo and the Frank Edward Piccolo Foundation for the Foundation’s very generous donation of $75,000 to support Starlight children and their families in and around Arizona. Jim Piccolo founded the Frank Edward Piccolo Foundation in 2007 with the aspiration to help other philanthropists and foundations who share a desire to make an impact in the community meet their goals. Jim is a nationally recognized educator and motivator and a true visionary in today’s mass-media market. He has founded more than 40 companies and is acknowledged for his contributions and support of children’s charities nationwide.
