Young Professionals Hosts Golf Tournament

On Saturday, December 4, 2010, our Young Professionals Group committee organized the first-ever Pacific Automation Starlight Arizona Golf Tournament held at the Legacy Golf Resort. John Shedd, Chris Suffecool and Steve Korn headed the committee with the goal to raise support for our Great Escapes family activities program.

More than 40 golfers gathered at 6:45 a.m. ready to register for this beautiful day, title sponsor was Pacific Office Automation. It was truly inspiring to see so many new faces wanting to get involved in fulfilling Starlight’s mission in our community. When the tournament was finished, the event had raised more than $4,600!

We truly appreciate our tournament sponsors Mike Fromhold and Kathleen Carolin. Golfers competed to win a car from Discover Hyundai for a hole in one and after the tournament enjoyed a BBQ banquet luncheon with many prizes and awards. As a memento of the day, each player received a gift bag stuffed with donated goodies from generous Starlight sponsors including: Antigua Shirts, Breakfast Club/Scottsdale Westcor, California Pizza Kitchen, Four Peaks Brewery, Nutracea, Hillside Spot Café, Idol Golf / Desert Divots, Legacy Golf Resort Hillside Spot/Ahwatukee, Majerle’s Sports Grill Golfsmith/Tempe, McDuffy’s, Serrano’s Mexican Restaurants, Stax Burger Bistro, Tee-Links Photographers CDW, Desert Divots, Westcor, Wolfley’s Neighborhood Grill.

Thanks to everyone who participated and supported this FUN event. The revenue raised will support our Great Escape program supporting hundreds of Starlight children and their families!

Mark your calendar for April 9, 2011 for Starlight Arizona’s annual signature event Sparkling Starry Soirée! This year’s event will include entertainment by acclaimed jazz artist Jay Soto and band, and will honor jazz legend Dave Koz with the Piccolo Humanitarian Award.
