Volunteer Opportunities
The Gift of Talent, Time and Compassion!
Recently, Starlight Arizona received joyful news from a 12-year-old boy, Quentin Gunning. Using his artistic skills, Quentin wanted to design “Starry Grams” to lift hospitalized children’s spirits as they go through their most difficult times.
The end products were amazing! The interactive cards featured cartoon characters, mazes, pops up etc., for young patients to enjoy. Starlight delivered the cards to two different hospitals who were as grateful as Starlight that Quentin had volunteered to share his personal starpower to brighten other kids’ lives.
We hope that Quentin will continue to share his gift with Starlight families, and that his generosity will inspire other young people to give back. Not an artist? Don’t worry! You can still make “thinking of you cards” for seriously ill children through our national StarPower program.
Starlight’s StarPower program was created to showcase the power of young people who engage in meaningful community service to help other kids.
StarPower participants:
- Use their own personal “star power” to brighten the lives of young people who are battling chronic illnesses, life-altering injuries and
life-threatening diseases.
- Volunteer to help spread the word about Starlight and how others can reach out to help seriously ill children and their families.
- And, where appropriate, organize and/or participate in fundraising efforts to help provide programs and services for Starlight families.
Want to get involved? Starlight is currently looking for student groups to make hand-made birthday and feel better StarPower cards to be distributed to the seriously ill children Starlight serves. Starlight will make sure that your card is delivered to a child in need of a spirit-lifting surprise.
In acknowledgment of outstanding philanthropy, Starlight will reward any school or other group that returns 500 or more decorated cards with a commemorative plaque.
There is no required donation to participate in this program. However, to offset Starlight’s cost to deliver the cards, we recommend a
minimum $1 donation per card. Know that with every $12 we receive, we can provide our programs to a family for an entire week.

Join Starlight’s Young Professionals Group!
Become part of the newly forming Starlight Young Professionals Group of Phoenix, and you’ll be joining the next leading organization for connecting young professionals in the Valley. Our focus will be to showcase Starlight Children’s Foundation as an organization that brightens the lives of seriously ill children and their families who spend months and sometimes years dealing with the devastating effects that a serious illness can have on a family. At the same time we will create opportunities for young professionals to build relationships, share ideas, get involved and grow roots in our community.
There are many leadership opportunities within this group. Currently, we are seeking volunteers to lead fundraising, PR/marketing, volunteerism for our Great Escape family activities, and membership recruitment efforts.
