Community Programs Intern
Los Angeles or San Diego
The Community Programs Intern assists regional staff,
including Community Program Coordinators and the Western Region Director, in
delivering Starlight programs in San Diego, San Francisco or Los Angeles. Develops resources and promotes
awareness among potential clients in order to implement Starlight programs.
This position reports directly to the Western Region Director and works closely
with the local market’s Community Program Coordinator.
Responsibilities
- Greet and check-in families at Great Escapes and
Day Brighteners.
- Coordinate Hospital Happenings under the
direction of the market’s Community Program Coordinator.
- Assist with coordinating Great Escapes family
activities that meet the organization’s standards and provide a wide range of
social and cultural opportunities for Starlight families.
- Work with Region Team to insure that local
program and fundraising efforts, including turn-key events, are consistent with
the organization’s overall goals and direction and all activities and reporting
adhere to Global Office financial guidelines.
- Process new Great Escapes applications and
update relevant databases.
- Assist with volunteer recruitment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Desire to learn
- Must have or be working towards an undergraduate
degree.
- Experience working with children and/or families
is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and support a
collaborative team environment.
- Flexible and willing to work during a few
evenings and weekends.
- Proficient with Internet, Microsoft Word, Excel,
and PowerPoint.
- Ability to lift 20 lbs, valid driver’s license
and regular access to a vehicle.
- Must be able to work remotely with minimal
supervision.
- Bilingual preferred.

Development Intern
Greater Bay Area
The Development Intern assists regional staff, including Community Program Coordinators and the Western Region Director, in organizing fundraising events, foundation and donor research, outreach and overall administrative functions of fund development.
Responsibilities
- Assist local and regional staff in foundation and donor research.
- Work with Region Team to submit grant proposals and letters of intent.
- Coordinate fundraising events under the direction of the Community Programs Coordinator and the Western Region Director.
- Assist with other fundraising tasks.
Qualifications
- Desire to learn.
- Must have or be working towards an undergraduate degree.
- Experience working with children and/or families is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and support a collaborative team environment.
- Flexible and willing to work during a few evenings and weekends.
