Celebrate an Occasion - Support Starlight Through a Special Event

Life is full of milestones that we remember as long as we live.  One way to make these milestones more meaningful and memorable is to share them with Starlight.  You will be extending the hope, love and joy that you, your family and guests are feeling to the seriously ill children and families we serve.  Below are some ideas on how to include Starlight into your life’s special occasions.

Teen Year Occasions  -- Bar Mitzvah, Bat Mitzvah, Quinceanera

Individuals are never too young to start experiencing philanthropy and teen years milestones like a child’s Bar Mitzvah, Bat Mitzvah, Quinceanera or simply a birthday all offer great opportunities to support Starlight.  Sponsoring a Fun Center mobile entertainment unit for a hospital, or a Great Escape family activity for a whole group of Starlight kids and families make a great Mitzvah project.  Funds can be raised through a Starlight personal fundraising Web page through FirstGiving, by telling your guests and extended family members instead of gifts you’d appreciate their making a donation to Starlight. 

Birthdays

Announce your birthday milestone and what it means to you through a Starlight personal fundraising Web page through FirstGiving.   Maybe you’ve set a goal for yourself to accomplish something significant in the coming year and you’re asking your friends and family to show their support with a donation to your favorite charity – Starlight!  Or, maybe you’re planning a birthday party and you'd like to ask your guests to make a donation to Starlight in lieu of gifts.  If you’re a mom or dad who’s planning a birthday party for that special kid, visit Starlight partner www.echoage.com where you’ll get help with invitations and rsvps and Starlight will share in the gifts to your child – it’s fun and easy and a great way for your child to share his or her good fortune with the special kids of Starlight.

Weddings

Start your marriage off generously by donating to Starlight on behalf of your wedding guests, and help make a difference in the lives of seriously ill children and their families. In recognition of your donation, Starlight will provide you with customized acknowledgements for your guests in the form of gift cards, place cards or tabletop signage.

If you would like to involve your wedding guests in your charitable efforts, we can also create an online giving portal through FirstGiving that celebrates your wedding day and gives guests the chance to make donations in lieu of purchasing gifts.
