Director of Program Services - Starlight Headquarters, Los Angeles, CA

The Director of Programs assumes responsibility for all assigned aspects of program development, delivery, evaluation and quality assurance, with particular focus on the Great Escapes™ family activities program. Responsibilities include creative program leadership, staff development, effective department, interdepartmental and national communication systems, and donor relations.  The position is exempt and reports to the AVP of Operations.  

Responsibilities

  1. Provide leadership for the Great Escapes family activities program across the organization, including the supervision of assigned HQ staff, program innovation, program evaluation, and maintaining adherence to program policies and procedures.  

  2. Oversee HQ and regional program staff in the implementation of corporate sponsored program activities. Ensure that the program opportunities offered to corporate sponsors are within the mission, are valuable to children and families and have time parameters that allow for adequate planning and execution.

  3. Implement and maintain regional program communication systems and monthly meetings, assuring that chapters, offices and city-based Great Escapes Coordinators (GECO’s) receive timely updates from HQ and have access to the routine sharing of best practices.

  4. Create and maintain a process in which policies and procedures are updated and distributed regularly. This includes the provision of a Great Escapes manual.

  5. Supervise assigned HQ staff, providing clear expectations and support.

  6. Establish national partnerships and program outreach with other non-profits and health-based organizations to help expand the Great Escapes program.

  7. Complete all required program reporting forms as requested.     

  8. Assist in the planning and implementation of board presentations, donor meetings and  conferences as requested.

 

Qualifications

1. BA in one of social sciences or a related field and a minimum of five years experience in supervision and program management.

2. Ability to maintain positive working relationships with a variety of people across a wide geographic area.

3. Excellent written/verbal and organizational skills.

4. Ability to prioritize between competing demands.

5. Ability to lead teams in a consensus building process.
