Plan or Host a Fundraiser

Many companies, college fraternities and sororities, community groups, families and individuals organize successful fundraising events to benefit Starlight.  Whether it is a traditional fundraiser – a bake sale, car wash, loose change drive, online fundraiser, or something completely new and different, these efforts bring in vital revenue that helps us reach out to more kids and families who need us, and introduces Starlight to new friends.

Here are a few ideas of what individuals/groups have organized as fundraisers for Starlight in the past:

Jeans Day - Organize a company-wide fundraiser. For a small donation, co-workers are allowed to wear jeans to work on a certain day.

Picnic - Integrate a home run contest or bean bag tournament into your summer picnic. Charge a small fee to be a part of the competition.

Holiday Party - During the holidays, integrate a fundraiser into your company or personal holiday party.

Cookie Exchange - Have a cookie exchange and charge a small fee to participate. Everyone feels good about giving to a great cause, but they also get to enjoy a wide-variety of treats!

Video Game Tournament – Select your favorite video game and set up a tournament – one night or one month.  Pay to play and play to win!  And, Starlight’s the ultimate winner of you and your friends’ generosity.

Marathon, 5K, Walk-a-thon - Organize a small marathon for a cause. Participants can collect pledges for each mile they bike, walk, run or swim.

Resolution Challenge - On a health kick?  Trying to quit smoking or lose weight? Issue a challenge to friends, family and colleagues.  Collect pledges for each smoke-free day, pound lost or hour spent working out at the gym.

Introduce Starlight to your friends

Starlight always wants to meet new people. Help us do that by hosting a casual get-together in your home, office, church or favorite restaurant and share your passion for our mission with your friends, co-workers and neighbors. Starlight can help by providing informational materials, funny and inspirational stories about the kids and families we serve, promotional items and follow-up advice.
