March 10, 2016
As part of the Northwestern Mutual Childhood Cancer Program, Northwestern Mutual in Los Angeles generously sponsored the remodeling of a new teen lounge to improve the life and health of patients at Mattel Children’s Hospital UCLA. The new warmer design will help ease stress of pediatric oncology patients, as well as support the overall health and well-being of patients by providing a relaxing environment for teenagers to participate in age-appropriate activities and socialize with peers.
Northwestern Mutual launched its Childhood Cancer Program in 2012 to accelerate the search for cures to childhood cancers and provide support to families battling the disease. On Friday, September 11, 2015, Starlight celebrated this partnership at a dedication cutting ceremony recognizing the opening of this new teen room supporting the treatment plans of oncology patients offering a variety of diversions and creating a sense of normalcy.
Starlight is proud of its more than 3-year partnership with Northwestern Mutual who continues to help millions build financial security and strengthens the communities where their families, clients and employees live, work and play.
