Uncovering the Mysteries of Bone Marrow: Aspiration and Biopsy

Uncovering the Mysteries of Bone Marrow: Aspiration and Biopsy Uncovering the Mysteries of Bone Marrow is interactive online program that helps educate seriously ill children ages 10 to 15 about what's involved in getting a bone marrow aspiration or biopsy as a means to help children communicate with their doctors and empower them to take control in the face of illness. It teaches kids with leukemia, aplastic anemia and other conditions what to expect from bone marrow aspirations, biopsies and transplants and what role bone marrow plays in the body.

Recent evidence has shown that withholding medical information from seriously ill and injured children can make their social and emotional challenges worse.  It is now widely believed by the medical community that children should receive information as soon and as completely as possible in a language that they can understand -- which is why Starlight worked with a multidisciplinary medical team to produce this program.
