 Walgreens, PODS and Starlight team up to benefit sick children

Walgreens invites customers to join employees in lifting the spirits of seriously ill children through the Walgreens Holiday Toy Drive. Starting November 1 through the holidays, Walgreens stores in Washington and Oregon will collect new, unwrapped toys and books for distribution to hospitalized children served by the Starlight Children’s Foundation - NW.

“This program is so exciting for Starlight,” said Steve McGraw, Executive Director of Starlight Children’s Foundation, Northwest. “By teaming up with Walgreens, we will be able to reach out to thousands more children this holiday season. Every donated toy and book will bring a smile to the face of a sick child.”

Customers are invited to drop off new, unwrapped books and toys at local Walgreens stores in Washington and Oregon. Recommended gifts include books, board games, puzzles, hand held games (including batteries), craft kits, building toys, DVDs, CDs, dolls and infant items. Customers who wish to make a financial donation can visit starlight-northwest.org.

“We are thrilled to be the pick-up and delivery partner in this joint effort to bring joy to seriously ill and hospitalized children this holiday season,” said Darryl Wright, General Manger of PODS for Washington and Oregon. Donated toys and books will be delivered to local Starlight Children’s Foundation locations in Washington and Oregon for distribution to local hospitals, to Starlight families, and delivered directly to local hospitals that are a part of Starlight network of medical facilities.

Toys and books donated will benefit seriously ill children at more than 90 hospitals and pediatric organizations across Washington and Oregon.

Realtors® Rick Miner and Marie Abbruzza have partnered with Starlight Children’s Foundation Northwest! Each time a Starlight member or friend of a member buys or sells a home with Rick Miner or Marie Abbruzza, they and Coldwell Banker Bain will donate 10% of the agent’s commission to Starlight.

This is part of Coldwell Banker Bain’s Community Partnership program, which allows agents to partner with organizations that promote the welfare of communities. Since the program was founded, Coldwell Banker Bain agents have donated more than $1.36 million to organizations in the Puget Sound area.

• Q: How and when does Starlight Children’s Foundation receive the donation?
  A: When the sale closes a check will be cut in Starlight’s name and presented by the agent.
  
• Q: Is the commission increased to cover the donation?
  A: No! The commission is not increased.
  
• Q: Will I receive the same service as if I were not participating in the partnership?
  A: Yes! We always pride ourselves in the quality and extent of our service regardless of the amount of the commission.
  
• Q: What is the donation if I want to sell my home and then buy a home?
  A: Starlight will receive 10% of the agent’s commission on each sale.
