Starlight Children’s Foundation Partners with Renowned Saxophonist Dave Koz to Improve the Hospital Experience for Children Nationwide

The 25-year relationship continues this winter with donations of Dave Koz Starlight Gowns and Starlight Fun Centers to dozens of hospitals along each stop of the 21st Annual Dave Koz & Friends Christmas Tour

Los Angeles, Calif. (November 19, 2018) – Today, Starlight Children’s Foundation, an organization dedicated to bringing joy and comfort to hospitalized children, announced a new holiday campaign in partnership with longtime ambassador, Grammy-nominated and Platinum-selling saxophonist Dave Koz. Being a child in the hospital during holidays can be difficult, but with the help of Koz and his fan network, Starlight will distribute 30 Starlight Fun Center mobile entertainment units and thousands of colorful, music-themed Dave Koz Starlight Gowns to hospitalized children nationwide.

Thanks to a $300,000 donation from Dave Koz and the Dave Koz Fan Network, Starlight Children’s Foundation will place one Starlight Fun Center mobile entertainment unit and distribute 100 new Dave Koz Starlight Gowns at one hospital in each of the 30 cities along the 2018 Dave Koz & Friends Christmas Tour. Koz helped design the charity’s first-ever artist inspired Starlight Gown which features a fun saxophone-themed design to provide seriously ill children with musical inspiration. Hospitals receiving Starlight Fun Centers and Starlight Gowns include Anaheim Global Medical Center, Bethesda Memorial Hospital, Tampa General Hospital, Children’s Hospital University of Illinois and Shriners Hospitals for Children, and many more.

In addition, the Dave Koz Fan Network will launch a matching gift fan fundraising campaign. From November 23, 2018 to December 31, 2018 for every $25 Starlight Gown donated by a member of the public, the Dave Koz Fan Network will match the donation up to a maximum of $35,000 resulting in as many as 1,400 additional Starlight Gowns delivered to hospitalized children nationwide. Anyone can join Koz’s Starlight All-Star team by donating a Starlight Gown to a hospitalized child at www.starlight.org/davekoz.

“We’re so grateful to Dave and his amazing network of fans for their generous donations and passionate support for Starlight programs that can provide joy and comfort for a hospitalized child, especially during the holidays,” said Chris Helfrich, CEO of Starlight Children’s Foundation. “This holiday season, we’re excited to invite the public to join with Dave in helping us deliver more of these awesome Dave Koz Starlight Gowns and other Starlight programs to hospitalized kids across the US.”

“I’ve been inspired countless times by the incredible work Starlight does to bring a sense of normalcy to these kids… kids who simply just want to be kids, but because of their illness, are put in a difficult position to do so,” added Koz, who’s been a proud Starlight partner for over a quarter century. “These children are the real heroes and the true impetus for doing the work we do. I’m so grateful to the incredibly generous group of fans who have made these donations possible. That we can go to each city on our Christmas tour and hopefully bring some joy, relief and perhaps a smile or two to a kid in a local hospital, makes this whole trek so meaningful to me.”

Starlight Gowns and Starlight Fun Centers are designed to entertain and distract hospitalized children while normalizing the hospital experience for families. Starlight Gowns revolutionize the hospital experience for kids by transforming drab and uncomfortable traditional pediatric hospital gowns into ones that are colorful and fun to wear. Starlight Fun Center mobile entertainment units feature the Wii U console from Nintendo and provide kids with access to their favorite video games, movies and TV shows right from the comfort of their hospital bed. Starlight provides these and other programs at no cost to its network of more than 800 children’s hospitals and other healthcare facilities in the US.

Koz has been a loyal partner of Starlight Children’s Foundation for more then 25-years, during which he and his fans have raised nearly a million dollars in support of Starlight through individual charitable donations including a silent auction held on the annual Dave Koz & Friends at Sea cruise and through the sales of Koz Wine, where 100% of Koz’s proceeds are donated back to Starlight.
