Starlight VR is a groundbreaking program that will entertain, educate and inspire the imaginations of hospitalized kids across the US through one-of-a-kind, immersive experiences that will transport children from the hospital to anyplace in the world – or beyond – through the magic of virtual reality.

We’re collaborating with incredible brands and companies to ensure Starlight VR delivers life-changing moments for hospitalized children and their families. Star Wars: Force for Change, a charitable initiative from Lucasfilm and Disney, that harnesses the power of Star Wars to empower and improve the lives of children around the world and the Founding Sponsor of Starlight VR, is providing a generous grant to Starlight that will fund the placement of Starlight VR headsets and equipment in hundreds of hospitals across the US. In addition, a significant grant from Niagara Cares, a philanthropic program of Niagara Bottling, will fund research and development for Starlight VR, as well as impact reporting to inform future program enhancements and usage recommendations.

Starlight VR is a program that will offer equipment and content geared toward entertainment and distraction for kids. Starlight VR will include exciting Star Wars VR content that turns kids into Star Wars characters as they travel to a galaxy far, far away and will incorporate many of Google’s VR technologies, including: Google Expeditions, virtual field trips to the world’s most amazing places for children over the age of 7, as well as Daydream, Google Earth VR and Tilt Brush for children over the age of 13.

These experiences and many more are possible through Starlight VR, our newest program rolling out across the US in late 2017 and throughout 2018.

Creating A New Reality for Hospitalized Children

The new Starlight VR program and collaboration with Star Wars: Force for Change officially launched just before Star Wars Celebration, April 13 – 16, with a special event at Florida Hospital for Children in Orlando where we offered a Starlight VR demo powered by Google Expeditions, a variety of fun Star Wars activities for kids and families and gave out hundreds of Star Wars-themed Starlight Gowns to hospitalized kids.
