All For the Kids: Hel’s Charity Streams

“All for the kids,” Twitch creator Hel reminds herself whenever someone in her chat asks her to take on a wild challenge or milestone. Since 2022, Hel and her community have been raising money with passion and dedication for seriously ill kids. Hel was named Content Creator of the Year for her commitment to Starlight’s mission.

So how did Hel get started with Starlight?

An Invitation to Do Good

A message from a Starlight staff member gave Hel the chance she had been hoping for.

Hel grew up volunteering and fundraising, so she always wanted to use her Twitch channel to help others. She just hadn’t found the right charity fit.

When Starlight invited her to join, everything felt right. They were open about how donations were used and Hel even had a personal connection to their mission.

Hel’s siblings spent time in the hospital when they were younger, and she remembers how tough it was for them.

“My parents couldn’t be there for them all the time. They were alone and didn’t have anything for them to fall back on,” Hel shares. “It would’ve been cool if my siblings could have benefitted from Starlight programs.”

That’s just one reason Hel keeps streaming for Starlight.

A New Community Tradition

Hel’s charity streams for Starlight are now a regular tradition on her channel.

Each year, her chat gets excited and looks forward to the limited-edition merch she releases, with all proceeds going to Starlight. Her community has become passionate about Starlight’s work and finding ways to help.

“‘For the kids’ is what we say,” Hel shares. “It’s always for the kids.”

For Hel, sharing Starlight’s mission has started a chain reaction. Through her stream, many people heard about Starlight for the first time, and some share their own hospital experiences, such as benefitting from Starlight programs when they were hospitalized as children.

Together, the community has made a real difference. Hel is still amazed by their generosity, which sometimes leaves her speechless.

The Stream She’ll Never Forget

Hel was in disbelief at what had just happened.

It was the end of her 24-hour charity stream for Starlight. They still hadn’t reached their fundraising goal, and there was only a minute left.

Suddenly, a viewer named Art joined the chat for the first time. He saw their efforts to help Starlight and made a huge donation that pushed them to their fundraising goal.

It remains her favorite memory from Streaming for Starlight.

A Life-Changing Experience

Hel’s charity streams for Starlight don’t just help kids; they’ve made a positive difference in her own life too. “Streaming for Starlight has filled me with good emotions and feelings,” Hel shares. “I look forward to it, and I get to help other people.”

Hel knows that as she’s fundraising, she doesn’t have to do it alone. The Starlight staff join her streams, leave comments and are always there if she needs support.
