Starlight and Days Inn Partner to Bring Brighter Days to Seriously Ill Children

Days Inn® by Wyndham believes everyone should wake up on the bright side. They’re taking this promise and extending it outside their properties to make sure seriously ill kids and their families also experience brighter days.

“When we were looking at the landscape of potential partners, it was very important for us to find an organization that shared our brand promise of making every day brighter.” said Patrick Breen, President of Days Inns Worldwide. “Starlight is a great fit as they work tirelessly to make the in-hospital experience brighter for millions of seriously ill kids through incredibly impactful programs. We’re so happy to help them fulfill their mission by shining a light on their cause to our guests and fans.”

This past summer we launched the Brighter Days Starlight Gown contest. Days Inn guests at participating locations and the general public were invited to design a Starlight Gown™.  Starlight Gowns are superior to regular hospital gowns because they are better at supporting both the functional needs of hospital staff and the emotional needs of pediatric patients. Five designs were selected to move onto the public voting phase.

The winner was Sierra, a talented 14-year-old high school freshman from Missouri City, Texas. She is part of her school’s color guard team and a scholarship recipient to a prestigious art program at the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston.

Sierra’s younger brother, who has cochlear implants to help him hear, was also the inspiration for her #BrighterDaysContest gown design. “Knowing I can bring a little joy to these kids whose life is already a challenge and make their day the slightest bit better with my art, gives me pride,” said Sierra.

After receiving over 1,200 votes, her winning interstellar design will be made into 1,000 Starlight Gowns to deliver happiness to children in hospitals across the country. Thanks to Days Inn, Sierra and her family also received 45,000 Wyndham Rewards points, enough for up to six free nights at select Days Inn by Wyndham hotels around the world.

Days Inn furthered their partnership with Starlight at the recent Wyndham Global Conference in Las Vegas, when Starlight CEO, Adam Garone, accepted a $50,000 donation. Days Inn has encouraged franchisees to fundraise for Starlight and Wyndham Rewards members can donate their points to Starlight as well. Talk about comfort and support!
