Starlight Programs Providing Support to Hospitals Nationwide

Hospital stays, no matter the length, can be stressful, scary, and boring, especially if you’re feeling anxious or alone. Starlight programs are made specifically with that in mind and are uniquely designed to provide joy and to remind a child what it means to be a kid, even when they’re in the hospital.

And while our mission is to deliver happiness to hospitalized kids and their families, we are also here to support the medical professionals that use our programs with their pediatric patients.

“Starlight has been instrumental in helping supply us with the items we need to best serve our pediatric patients. Their programs enable me to have toys, child-friendly hospital wear, and gaming systems for our patients to create a better environment than the sterile adult hospital we are in. Being a one-person child life program, it can be difficult to have all the supplies I need, but Starlight has been so helpful in making sure I have the tools to do my job well.” - Katie Maxwell, CCLS, CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances in Tyler, Texas

“At the Ronald McDonald House in Salt Lake City, we serve about 75 families at any one time. We have a room called the “Magic Room” that is stocked with toys and books so that when a child has had a particularly rough day or procedure, or just anything we can celebrate or make a little bit better, we invite them into the Magic Room to pick a toy. Starlight programs are so appreciated. They have brought smiles to so many children, families, and especially the parents of the kids!

Thanks for all you do!” - Leslie Herold, Program Coordinator at Ronald McDonald House Charities Intermountain Area

From all of us at Starlight, we are so grateful to work with compassionate providers who care for hospitalized kids and their families!

“To our amazing friends at Starlight Children’s Foundation,

We want to take a moment to share our deep gratitude for all you do for our patients and families each day. We are a Child Life program established just over five years ago in a community hospital serving children from surrounding towns and cities throughout central Oregon. Starlight has played a major role in helping us to provide for the emotional and developmental needs of our pediatric patients of all ages and their families. The toys, activities, and stuffed characters from Starlight Deliveries have allowed us to provide support, encouragement, and a sense of normalization to countless children. Starlight has given us the ability to provide special, favorite characters to our patients, which is priceless. Our Gaming Stations, which offer hours of diversion and entertainment, have been provided solely by Starlight. Giving children a choice of gowns provided by Starlight’s Hospital Wear program has been a small but powerful tool for offering them a sense of control in an environment that can be so challenging. We simply could not provide the level of care that we do if it weren’t for Starlight. Thank you on behalf of our Child Life program, staff, and our patients and families!” - Barb Blair, Megan Massey, and Regan Muth, Child Life team, PeaceHealth RiverBend in Springfield, Oregon

Help us continue to provide Starlight programs to hospitals across the nation by delivering moments of joy to the patients they serve.
