A Grand Slam of Giving: 20 Years of MLB and Starlight Helping Kids
A Winning Record for Kids
Since 2005, Major League Baseball (MLB) has supported Starlight Children’s Foundation in advancing the charity's mission — delivering happiness to hospitalized kids.
Over two decades, MLB has funded more than $550,000 in Starlight programs, including Starlight Nintendo Switch Gaming and Hospital Gowns, bringing comfort to children across Starlight’s nationwide hospital network.

Yellow on the Field
Every year, MLB picks a special league-wide day in home ballparks to raise awareness for childhood cancer.
All MLB players wear yellow ribbons and wristbands as a visual symbol of their support of the awareness initiative.
As a part of this initiative, MLB partners with Starlight to deliver Starlight Nintendo Switch Gaming Handhelds to children’s hospitals.
In 2024, under the MLB Together platform, all 30 MLB clubs delivered Starlight Gaming to hospitals in their local areas. They all came pre-loaded with the video game MLB The Show 24.
Playing familiar games like MLB The Show 24 gives kids comfort and happiness in the hospital. Kids are entertained, distracted with fun, and gain a sense of control in an environment where they may not have many choices.
On Deck: 2025 Season of Support
In 2025, MLB’s childhood cancer awareness day will be on Sunday, September 7th.
Throughout the month, children’s hospitals in the areas of all 30 Clubs will receive a Starlight Gaming Handheld.
