Ways You Can Support During Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, a month dedicated to recognizing and honoring the children and families affected by childhood cancer and supporting them through the challenges that this reality brings.

Each year, approximately 400,000 children and adolescents are diagnosed with cancer. This diagnosis changes their lives. It is the start of countless appointments, treatments, testing, and routine checkups—even after they are cancer-free—just like Starlight Kid, Kyrell.

Kyrell’s cancer diagnosis caused him to spend long periods of time at Advocate Children’s Hospital, where he found Starlight Gaming – allowing him to bring his love of gaming directly into his hospital room.

Starlight is focused on improving the lives of seriously ill kids, like Kyrell, across the US and delivering them moments of joy. Whether it is through a Starlight Hospital Gown that makes their hospital stay a little more comfortable or Starlight Gaming that can provide them a sense of normalcy from their hospital room, Starlight is there to support them through their entire journey.

Now, this September, you can make an impact in the lives of children with cancer by supporting Starlight and helping us place more Starlight programs at hospitals across the country.

Check out all the ways that you can support this month!

  • Donate today! With a monthly or one-time donation, you can make an impact immediately and ensure that childhood cancer patients have access to Starlight programs.

  • Tune in to Stream For Starlight.  All month long, streamers from all over will be raising funds for seriously ill kids. You can tune in, make a donation, and deliver happiness!

  • Do you know a child battling cancer?  For just $35, you can purchase a colorful, soft Starlight Gown that will make their hospital stays a little brighter.

  • Start a fundraiser.  Rally your family, friends, and community and launch a fundraiser to deliver programs like Gaming, Virtual Reality, and more, to sick kids.

  • Support your local hospital. Want to support a hospital that holds a special place in your heart? Deliver happiness to seriously ill kids for years to come when you place a Starlight program at a hospital in your community.

No matter how you choose to support, just remember to show up for childhood cancer patients this month.
