Starlight Gowns are created with children’s comfort in mind. They replace uncomfortable and embarrassing hospital gowns with ones that are high-quality, comfortable, and brightly colored. They are designed with plastic snaps on the sleeves and ties down the side to provide better coverage for kids and easier access for hospital staff during medical procedures.
Best of all, kids love to wear them!
We’ve collected some of our favorite Starlight Gown moments since the program launched in 2017.
When I Grow Up Gowns
These gowns inspire kids to follow their dreams. The collection includes fun and exciting jobs like artists and astronauts.
With the help of Starlight Gowns, kids can transform into veterinarians or travel to space! The astronaut-themed Gown always brought a smile to Starlight Kid Finn’s face, even during his countless hospital visits.
In 2018, we launched our very first Design-A-Gown campaign, where we invited people across the country to design the next Starlight Gown! Jack won the first Design-A-Gown when he created a design for his little sister, Everly, who was born with a congenital heart defect.
Jack included hearts because he wanted to be sure that Everly is surrounded by love whenever she’s in the hospital. Everly wore Jack’s Starlight Gown during her third open-heart surgery, meaning her older brother was there in spirit even though he couldn’t be in the operating room.
Partnering with Major League Baseball
Since 2017, Starlight has partnered with Major League Baseball to make one-of-a-kind Club-themed Starlight Gowns.
MLB stars have made special hospital visits throughout the years! Cleveland baseball legend Slider shared a high-five, Cleveland Starlight Gowns, team swag, and a whole lot of smiles with hospitalized kids.
Jed Lowrie, a former Oakland Athletics player, delivered a special Gown at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital. And, Kyrell can cheer on his favorite baseball team from his hospital bed while wearing a Chicago Cubs Gown.
Magical Disney-Themed Starlight Gowns
Fun Disney-themed Starlight Gowns bring a bit of magic to hospital stays!
Alden Ehrenreich, who played Han Solo in Solo: A Star Wars Story, visited kids at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital in San Francisco and delivered Star Wars-themed Starlight Gowns. Even Mickey Mouse and his friends have made special appearances to deliver Disney-themed Starlight Gowns!
Seven-year-old Anaiah from Valleywise Health Medical Center in Phoenix feels invincible in her Disney-themed Gown! And she's not the only one at the hospital who enjoys them.
"The patients absolutely love the designs and comfort of these gowns. It helps to make their hospital stay more colorful and comfortable. The latest style of superheroes also tends to bring on a pose and feelings of superpowers," said Andrea, a Certified Child Life Specialist at Valleywise.
Help us keep delivering Starlight Gowns and smiles like these.
