Tucker is a spunky 9-year-old born with tracheoesophageal fistula (TEF). TEF is an abnormal connection between the esophagus and the trachea. He’s undergone nearly 30 medical procedures including dilatations and a kidney biopsy that resulted in a rupture.
Despite having this medical challenge, Tucker doesn’t let it stop him from being a kid! He is rambunctious and adventurous and as Tucker’s mom, Alyson, says, “It’s never dull around here.”
Tucker and his mom frequent Morristown Medical Center in New Jersey and know most of the pediatric doctors and nurses by first name. Alyson says Tucker is a trooper and despite the numerous hospital visits, the staff always makes him feel better and he has fun while he’s there.
Next time Tucker makes a trip to the hospital, he’ll be well-equipped with his brand new Starlight Brave Gown.
“I like how there are different designs and how the tie is on the side and it’s really soft. I think the kids in hospitals are going to love it, just as much as me,” says Tucker.
Tucker is so excited about the gowns that he has started designing his own versions in his free time. His mom says he’s been focusing on how he can help other kids who have been hospitalized.
“This has really given him an outlet for his emotions, fears and anxieties from all of his hospital stays and medical experiences,” Alyson says.
Tucker wears the archer gown and it fits his personality perfectly. He’s bold and brave!
