The8BitDrummer Rocks Out While Raising Funds and Delivering Happiness to Sick Kids
Starlight streamer, The8BitDrummer, is a rockstar on Twitch. His energy and enthusiasm as he drums all the best songs are felt through the screen and throughout his chat. His community cheers him on and can request what he plays next. You feel like you’re part of a family when you watch his stream.
And with that same energy, he works toward making the world a better place—one charity stream at a time.
“With the influence and outreach that streaming on Twitch has allowed for me to have, I have made it a regular occurrence to do a ‘Charity Streaming Day’ once a month,” said The8BitDrummer. “Basically, all of the income from that day of streaming goes to a charitable organization.”
Since 2019, The8BitDrummer has been jamming for Starlight every September for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. It’s a time when hundreds of content creators join forces to raise funds and place Starlight programs such as Starlight Gaming, Starlight Virtual Reality, Starlight Hospital Wear, and more to hospitalized kids.
“The community loved the idea around giving kids the opportunity to well... be kids. Gaming has been a major part of my life for a long time and I and my community are happy that we could make some kind of an impact in kids’ lives in a cool way!”

The 8Bit community and Jerod have raised more than $10K to impact seriously ill kids through Starlight's programs. Because of their efforts, a Starlight Gaming station equipped with a Nintendo Switch, fully loaded with games, has been placed at Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Children’s Health.
Kids of all ages and illnesses can now enjoy the state-of-the-art gaming station that can roll up bedside in a room or through the hallway to a waiting room. Siblings can compete against each other while they play Mario Kart and parents can find a little bit of respite while children find entertainment and distraction with Starlight gaming.
