Gaming for Good: LackAttack's Quest to Help Kids in Need
Did you know that finishing video games as quickly as possible can make a difference in your community?
LackAttack — nostalgic game lover, Twitch streamer and proud dad of two — knows it can.

Giving Back and Starlight’s Mission
From elementary school afternoons to post-college nights, gaming has been a steady source of joy for LackAttack.
In 2013, LackAttack took his passion for gaming online, diving into Nintendo speedrunning and streaming on Twitch, a journey he is still on today.
As the years went on, LackAttack was looking for ways to give back using his platform.
He heard good things about Starlight through his friend, DGR Dave, who had fundraised for the nonprofit.
As a gamer and parent, LackAttack was inspired by Starlight’s mission and how they fundraise to provide Starlight Nintendo Switch Gaming consoles to children’s hospitals.
“It just spoke to me,” he said.
“I’ve seen video game consoles in hospitals before, but I always thought that the hospital just bought a couple," he shared.
"I thought it was a really cool opportunity for me to help fundraise to deliver more to the hospitals.”

Impact You Can Feel
Sometimes, the impact hits close to home.
Someone LackAttack knew donated to one of his fundraising campaigns while their child was in the hospital.
LackAttack and his community decided to direct the funds they raised to that very hospital.
“It was extremely motivating to know that I was directly impacting someone I knew,” he said. “The parents may not play the game directly, but they experience joy when they see their kids happier.”

Press Play — See Where It Takes You
Many hesitate to try charity streaming, worried they won’t hit fundraising goals.
Still, LackAttack encourages everyone to start.
“I would definitely encourage people to not worry about the final dollar figure that you raise,” he said.
“Participate and see what happens — people will surprise you. I undersold what I thought I could do and my community raised the bar for me.”
With your community behind you — whether through donations, spreading the word, or simply showing up in chat — generosity can snowball.
“Being able to help the entire family is what fuels me to do this.”

Your Always-On Support Team
When you stream for Starlight, the Starlight staff will support you every step of the way.
“They support you while you’re live streaming. They will send you messages to make sure you’ve got everything you need, will get you what you need and follow-up after,” LackAttack said.
"Starlight makes me feel like what I’m doing is appreciated," he shared.
Starlight's support made LackAttack feel deeply connected to the stream for Starlight community, and he even was a Stream for Starlight Ambassador in 2023.

“I feel connected to the community, to the organization, and I will continue to fundraise for them for a while.”
